About O&S

The City of Amsterdam’s section Onderzoek en Statistiek (O&S; Research and Statistics) collects data about Amsterdam and processes these data into information. Subjects range from the Amsterdam population, the housing stock, employment and entrepreneurial activity in the city to subjects like safety, elections, health care and education.
O&S collects lots of statistical information and, next to that, executes research commissions, varying from short opinion surveys about current issues to elaborate monitors. O&S also does a lot of research in the field of customer services and customer satisfaction.
The municipality of Amsterdam is the biggest client, but O&S also works for other municipalities, universities, provinces, the European Union, and several local media companies and other companies. In its research programme, O&S has an independent position comparable to that of Statistics Netherlands (CBS) within the national government.
